Our Trauma Support Groups run for eight sessions, fortnightly. Two therapists look after and guide the group through a number of themes common to individuals struggling with a legacy of complex trauma.
Topics for this term (the order of the below topics may change):
- Safety – how to feel safe and secure in my environment, body, emotionally, and financially.
- Physical Manifestations – where and how does trauma live in my body?
- Internal Separation – Two Parts of Self – understanding the internal split between my ‘going on with normal life self’ and ‘traumatised self’.
- Managing Strong Emotions in Recovery – Exploring the 90/10 reaction and Shame and Guilt – how does this impact me in my present life and what can I do to navigate them?
- Trust after Trauma – exploring trust with others, in your own judgement and in your body.
- Disclosure – how can we keep ourselves safe when disclosing? Who to tell and how much.
- Revictimization – who do I let in my life? And who do I let go of because they don’t support my journey forward?
- Survivor Missions – Creating meaning and purpose, where to from here?
