For Psychology graduates looking to expand their knowledge and confidence in working with complex trauma
The Birchtree Centre is a collective of over 50 trauma-specialist clinicians, offering individual therapy, group therapy and evidence-based adjunct therapies in the treatment of complex trauma.
Since opening in 2015, Birchtree Centre has run a Clinical Psychology Registrar Program for professionals who are interested in expanding their knowledge and confidence in the treatment of complex trauma.
Birchtree Centre provides a community for private practitioners, with plenty of opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and resources from our experienced team via our shared online library, and at our Birchtree training days and social get-togethers.
Birchtree Centre’s Clinical Registrar Program is offered at 2 days per week with one being a Saturday. It is a contractor position with a competitive pay rate and reduced room rent, with the first 4 weeks rent-free to get you started.
Registrars will be supervised by one of Birchtree’s Co-Directors in the provision of treatment for complex trauma, addictions and eating disorders. These positions are open to graduates who are interested in expanding their knowledge and confidence in working within these domains. All referrals will be provided by the centre, and your caseload will be built up gradually under the recommendation of your supervisor.
There are positions available at both the Forest Lodge and Pymble Centre’s for 2024 – please be sure to indicate your preference when applying.
During the Registrar Program, all Registrars will be supervised at least fortnightly on-site by one of the Co-Directors of Birchtree Centre: Dr Sophie Reid or Jace Cannon-Brookes, with capacity for more supervision as needed. There is also an opportunity to attend peer group supervision with the other Clinical Psychology Registrars and fellow Birchtree clinicians.
Registrars will be offered complimentary access to all of Birchtree’s Masterclasses and Trainings throughout the year, including a two-day ‘Understanding the Long Limbs of Trauma’ workshop presented by Jace and Sophie – all of which can be counted towards Continued Professional Development.
Birchtree’s clinicians have a huge range of experience and knowledge from multiple sectors, and are always keen to assist colleagues with advice and recommendations to better serve their clients. There is plenty of opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and resources from our experienced multidisciplinary team via the shared online library and at Birchtree training days and social gatherings.
Registrars will also have the opportunity to assist with the Workshops and Groups offered in the twelve months from commencing their position.
Applications for 2024 open now, please send a cover letter and your CV with two referees (at least one from a clinical placement) to:
